The Citizen is Present goes Climate Conference
There is a red carpet and two chairs opposite each other. The Citizen is Present goes Climate Conference. A space of silence and being present in the busy foyer at the COP25 in Madrid.
Martin Bruders is co-initiator of the art-action and part of the Team behind The Citizen is Present. The intention is to bring the attention of the citizen to the present moment and thus to the shared public space. Each citizen has a responsibility for the public space and what happens in it. We would like to remember, inspire and invite this social or human responsibility with this silent art action, which is inspired by the performance of the artist Marina Abramovic “The Artist is Present” at the Museum of Modern Arts in New York in 2010.
“We doing this because we believe that human connection is needed in order to find new solutions to the complex problems affecting humanity. We will be there with our artistic performance in the framework of the UN Climate Change Conference to provide a space for people to meet in silence. Through the contact with the other person in a moment of silence the citizens have the possibility to stop and then go on with their day in a different way, being more present, more conscious.”
Have a look at this great video showing the art-action during the COP25.
We are looking forward to hearing more about the initiative.
